Los Angeles, CA – The California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce (CHCC) Annual Statewide Convention will be held from August 11-13 at the Millenium Biltmore Hotel & Conference Center in Downtown Los Angeles. The CHCC Convention is the largest  and most important regional gathering of Hispanic business owners & civic leaders in the country. The goal is to stimulate discussion and participation amongst Hispanic business owners, corporate business leaders, community leaders, and government officials to address issues of relevance to the Hispanic business community, and offer a platform for in depth discussion of current issues pertinent to the economic growth and development of California.  

  The confirmed participation of Gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown (D); along with Senate candidate Carly Fiorina (R); Senator Barbara Boxer-via MM (D); CA Lt Gov Abel Maldonado; LA Mayor Antonio Villarraigosa, and other high profile individuals and television personalities sets the stage for a dynamic and memorable environment with the opportunity for provocative exchanges on a variety of political and business-related topics framed within the backdrop of an important election year for Californians.

The Annual Convention features plenary sessions, keynote addresses, the coveted business awards of the year and a variety of seminars & workshops, with topics such as: procurement & supplier development opportunities, Access to Capital, Latina Business Development, “growing and expanding your business” series, and corporate contracts matchmaking appointments onsite, bringing together hundreds of Hispanic suppliers with corporate and government buyers.

With the theme, “Celebrating History, Heritage, and the American Dream,” CHCI will present Medallion of Excellence awards to actress Eva Longoria Parker and jazz legend Arturo Sandoval, and the CHCI Chair’s Award to Broadway composer Lin-Manuel Miranda. CNN’s Soledad O’Brien will serve as the celebrity host.

    Former Kumbia Kings member and Latin pop sensation Irving “Pee Wee” Salinas will open the evening’s program with a new single before performing the national anthem.

    Born into a musical family, Sheila E. has been performing for close to four decades and her 1984 single “The Glamorous Life” was nominated for an American Music Award and a Grammy Award. She is the President of Heaven Productions Music and the co-founder and co-chair of the Elevate Hope Foundation, a charitable organization that uses music therapy to work with abused and abandoned children. Her impressive career has exposed the talents of a truly multi-faceted performer- from drumming, percussion, vocals, song writing, arranging, producing, and composing, to her inspiring humanitarian efforts.

    Each year, the CHCI Annual Awards Gala is the hallmark event that launches Hispanic Heritage Month in Washington, D.C., and serves as the unifying event for the Hispanic-American community. CHCI would like to thank its Hispanic Heritage Month Conference & Gala Planning Committee members Reps.
