WASHINGTON, D.C. – Withthe backdrop of the impending controversial Arizona immigration law SB 1070 setto take effect, LULAC has called upon the Latino’s entertainment community tounite and raise their collective voices through a star-studded concert with acause, Voces Unidas Por Americaor Voices United for America.
Top Latin recording artistsPee Wee, Ozomatli, Cristian Castro are set to perform Saturday July 17 at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque,New Mexico (site of the 81st Annual LULAC National Convention), VocesUnidas will unite Latino performing artists, actors,public officials and national leaders in a unprecedented concert that will senda “collective and united” message to the state of Arizona.
LULAC has joined forceswith TV and music producer David Chavez and LatinPointe to use music as aunifying theme in rallying support from the Latin entertainment, and political world. Thepassion and the energy of Latino community across the country will be channeledinto a unique event.
“The incredible talent willjoin together in echoing the sentiment and passion of the Latino communityagainst the proposed law” remarked Rosa Rosales, LULAC President. “Arizona hasgiven Latinos an opportunity to stand up; an urgency and a sense of purpose tounite through song as Americans voice their concerns with this unique musicalevent.”
Voces Unidas is scheduled for Saturday July 17th, 7:00 pm at Tingley Coliseum, NewMexico State Fairgrounds, in Albuquerque, NewMexico. The concert will be held during LULAC’s National Convention. Thisyear’s theme, New Strategies for Community Empowerment: NewLeadership through Action, will take onpressing priorities in the areas of immigration, education, healthcare anddiversity.
